The Compleat Lexical Tutor website has a variety of tools for students to improve their academic vocabulary, based on the idea of focusing systematically on the 2000 most common English words and on a 570-word Academic Word List. Resources include diagnostic tests of vocabulary, frequency-based exercises, and online texts with “click-on lexical support.”
