Students lend Spanish skills to help needy

Spanish students from two local high schools are using their language skills - and philanthropic spirit - to help LifeLine Ministries of Northern Kentucky connect with Hispanic families who need assistance.

As part of a year-long service-learning project, the local Spanish students are volunteering as translators at the Elsmere-based non-profit that provides local, needy families with food, clothing and household items.

Liz Cobb, a Spanish teacher at one of the high schools, says, They're learning so much, not just about the language but also about the culture. It's a huge benefit for them to be able to speak Spanish with native speakers.
