Call for Papers: 2nd Annual Jīl Jadīd Conference

The University of Texas' Department of and Center for Middle Eastern Studies are pleased to announce that they will host the 2nd Annual Jīl Jadīd Conference, a graduate student conference in Arabic Literature and Linguistics, to be held at the University of Texas at Austin, February 23-25, 2012.

Last February, graduate students from eighteen universities assembled to set the tone for Arabic studies in the twenty-first century. The purpose of this conference remains to bring together students spread across area studies, linguistics, comparative literature and other departments in order to facilitate a productive and interdisciplinary exchange of new ideas.

The conference will feature keynote speakers on Arabic literature and linguistics, as well as a career development workshop offered by faculty from the UT Department of Middle Eastern Studies.

The deadline for abstract submission in Tuesday, 1 November 2011.
